Our Daintree night tours are all about learning more about the unique and interesting plants and animals that live here. They take place after the sun sets, when the canopy tours have ended and the night shift comes out to dance in the dark. Tiny forest dragons which camouflage beautifully against tree trunks and branches, frogs calling in the night and the clicks and pops of insects, large and small. In the darkness your senses expand, your hearing becomes more acute and you’re aware of the living, breathing rainforest around you. This is the time to indulge your inner Attenborough, in the real land before time. Fully guided by torchlight, every Daintree night tour is as different as the critters we might see. Book today to have your own Night at the Museum, in nature’s oldest living archive.
Please note: The 2-hour night walk runs in all weather and starts at 7.30pm. Courtesy pick-ups are available from most Cape Tribulation accommodation: self-drivers should meet outside the reception centre at PK’s Jungle Village. Our Daintree night tour does require a moderate level of fitness and comfortable walking shoes, as you’re walking over uneven ground with only torch light to guide you. This tour is not recommended for children aged under 8, however we do offer private night walks for families with young children, tailored to your requirements and subject to availability. Please contact us to make an enquiry.

Our guided night walk will reveal some of the rainforest’s hidden creatures, from an interesting array of insects, to sleeping birds, Boyd’s forest dragons, bandicoots, bats, spiders and even snakes. Little has changed here over the last 120 million years. Man’s impact has been minimal and it’s a landscape rich with natural history, flora and fauna. A place we’re excited to share with you.
Armed with a flash light and knowledgeable guide, we set out on natural walking trails to explore the rainforest and to meet some of the creatures that call the Daintree home. There’s no interpretive signage, just you, a torch and your very own human Wikipedia to introduce you to the furry, feathery and scaly locals.
While we can’t guarantee what you might specifically see, we commonly see and hear frogs, bandicoots, Boyd’s forest dragons, spiders and some weird but wonderful insects. If we’re really lucky, we might also see a Bennett’s Tree Kangaroo or an amethystine python.
This is a landscape that comes alive after dark and is very different to the day time sights and sounds. Join us on our 2-hour Daintree night tour which starts every night at 7.30pm.
Tours depart nightly at 7.30pm, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. If you are self-driving, please arrive at our central pick-up point at PK’s Jungle Village reception at least 10 minutes before tour departure. For those staying in Cape Tribulation, we offer a complimentary transfer service from most hotels.
We offer courtesy transfers from most Cape Tribulation accommodation. The exact start time will vary with your pick-up point, see details below. If you’re not staying overnight in Cape Tribulation, our central pick up point is PK’s Jungle Village reception.
